Product Description:
Anritsu MS2721A Handheld Spectrum Analyzer, 100 kHz to 7100 MHz
The Anritsu MS2721A spectrum analyzer is a wide band, very sensitive receiver. It works on the principle of "super-heterodyne receiver" to convert higher frequencies (normally ranging up to several 10s of GHz) to measurable quantities. The received frequency spectrum is slowly swept through a range of pre-selected frequencies, converting the selected frequency to a measurable DC level (usually logarithmic scale), and displaying the same on the CRT of the Anritsu MS2721A. The CRT displays received signal strength (y-axis) against frequency ( x-axis).
Some applications for Anritsu MS2721A Spectrum Analyzers include Site Monitoring: Verify that the frequency and signal strength of your transmitter is accurate. Interference: Before a system is installed you use a Anritsu MS2721A spectrum analyzer to verify that the frequencies (you plan to use) are not occupied or if the presence of a very strong signal will interfere with your new setup. Interference can be created by a number of different situations. Other tests that utilize the Anritsu MS2721A spectrum analyzer features include antenna isolation, co-channel interference, adjacent channel power, occupied bandwidth, intermodulation, microwave or satellite antenna alignment, and characterization of components.
The MS2721A is the first fully-functional handheld spectrum analyzer designed to conduct highly accurate analysis on the new wave of wireless signals, including 802.11a, 3G, ultra-wideband, and WiMAX. The MS2721A is a small and easy to use handheld spectrum analyzer with unprecedented measurement capability for applications up to 7.1 GHz. Weighing in at less than 7 pounds, it is equally at home on the engineering bench and in the field. Spectrum Master model MS2721A is an entirely new instrument for deploying, maintaining and troubleshooting wireless base stations and Wi-Fi (802.11a, b and g) systems. Several one button measurements are built into the MS2721A, including channel power, adjacent channel power ratio, Carrier to Interference ratio (C/I), and field strength. In addition, an AM/FM/SSB demodulator is included. Demodulated signals can be monitored using the internal speaker or by using a universal 2.5 mm 3-wire headset, such as used with many cellular telephones. The spectrum analyzer has phase noise of at -100 dBc/Hz @ 10 kHz offsets, best in its class typical DANL of -153 dBm at 1 GHz, resolution bandwidth (RBW) range of 10 Hz to 3 MHz and video bandwidth (VBW) range of 1 Hz to 3 MHz. It also has the fastest sweep speeds of any spectrum analyzer in its class. The use of external Compact Flash memory modules allows an unlimited number of traces and setups to be stored. Ethernet 10/100 Base T and USB 2.0 connections are provided to give the user flexibility in remotely controlling the instrument as well as in uploading and downloading traces and settings.
Typical applications include:
- Transmitter Spectrum Analysis - occupied bandwidth, channel power, adjacent channel power ratio and modulation
- Receive Signal Analysis - location and identification of in-band interference and out-of-band spurious signals; modulation identification, modulation depth, deviation and spectral mask
